Indisputably, (just try it!) the greatest interpreter of folk music that
ever lived,
Ewan MacColl (Jimmy Miller)
was born in Auchterarder, Perthshire 1/25/1915 (d10/22/89)
I first heard his stuff in Mac Leech's folklore class in 1959. I'm still
knocked out by it - awed. Yes, I learned he was an Englishman & I learned
many other approaches & styles to Scots balladry & the real genius of
Gaughan & Mathieson & Robertson & others.
Nevertheless.
