The Jewish Brigade was established.
It fought well in Africa and Italy.
La-olel, v'larach,
She-arim po niftach!
Lamach v'lazaken,
Anu po chomat magen!
For the helpless and the young,
Wide the gates we fling!
For the aged and the lame,
The shield of victory we bring!
"Shir Ha-Palmach" was written in the Brigade and became a
most popular song on the Palmach, the striking force of
