10/5/1864: Confederate General John Bell Hood attempts to capture
Sherman's Allatoona depot, threatening Sherman's supply line. Sherman sent
a mountain-to-mountain-to-mountain signal flag-message to the garrison:
"Hold the fort. I am coming."
Hood's attack failed.
Fierce and long the battle rages,
But our Help is near;
Onward comes our great Commander
Cheer, my comrades, cheer!
