Legman was the leading scholar of erotic
folk literature, dialog & song. Endless & ground-breaking accomplishments
bringing this material to the scholarly community. Happily responsible
for brilliantly editing & printing Randolph's long-supressed great
Unprintable collection of Ozark bawdy song & expurgated verses. Claimed
to have the (perhaps apocryphal) Hugil bawdy collection. We still don't
know. He was also responsible for the whole Western interest in origami -
from his 1955 exhibit. Certainly a genius. Certainly a maniac.
