The Chartists set out for Newport & had a rally & massacre there the next
morning. On 12/31, 3 leaders were found guilty of treason & sedition &
sentenced to be hanged, drawn & quartered. This was commuted to
life-transportation to Van Dieman's Land.
The fatal day we'll long remember,
Which caused distress on every mind,
It was the third of last November,
