Happy

For a time in the dim and distant past the citizens of the Usenet newsgroups uk.music.folk and rec.music.folk were entertained and educated on a daily basis by the wonderful series of posts by Abby Sale with the title "Happy"

I felt they were too valuable to simply disappear into the ether and so, with Abby's permission and cooperation, I have archived them here. Some of them are short, some lengthy, some silly, some informative, and there is great wit and knowledge to be found in many of them.

The archive is not yet complete and some months still have to be added.

happy icon This icon usually indicates that the event is a birthday or other commemoration for an individual, hence the smiling, "happy!"

happy icon This icon usually indicates some historical event or a memorium for an individual's death, hence the enigmatic, "happy?".

Abby put a lot of work into writing these and owns the copyright on them and I put a lot of work into archiving them in this form so, please, if you want to copy them somewhere else, ask Abby's permission first. His email address is attached to every post. Thanks.

OBLIGATORY DISCLAIMERS :

  • Any and all opinions expressed in these posts are those of Abby Sale and the fact that I am archiving them should not be taken as meaning that I either agree with or support any of them.

  • Any typos, inaccuracies, grammatical errors, bad language, curses or suchlike are also Abby's, so blame him. I'm only the humble archivist.
    Of course they are.
Would I lie about a thing like that?

Historical Note : Abby and Tinker (the butt of several gratuitous insults in some of the "Happy" posts) Sale, while not having been smart enough to actually be born in Scotland, had somehow acquired sufficient good sense to live in Edinburgh where they befriended, encouraged (and frequently fed) many a penniless, struggling young singer like meself in the late 60s/early 70s

Currently domiciled in Florida, which is an absurd place for them to be living. They should be living in Edinburgh, as befits decent, civilised beings.

(On second thoughts, given the relative climates in Edinburgh and Orlando, maybe I should move there. Let's compare --

Scotland : cold summers, even colder winters, spectacular scenery, haggis

Florida : summer all year round, Disneyland, hurricanes, huge mosquitoes, alligators

Hmmm ....... on third thoughts .....)
